Before admitting your child, you will be given a tour of the school. Previous schools will be contacted to obtain information about learning and attitude. We would hope to admit a child as soon as possible after your request for a place, but preparation time is needed both for you and the staff concerned.
Our admission limit for a class is 30 pupils and any over that number will be placed on an admissions waiting list. Appeals may be made if your child is refused a place and this should be done through Enfield Council at the Civic Centre (telephone number: 020 8379 5501).
If you live outside the London Borough of Enfield, you must contact your own local authority to ask for the relevant application form.
Admission from Carterhatch Infant School
If your child has been a pupil at Carterhatch Infant School, a formal application must be made before a place is allocated at the Junior School. Applications for a Yr3 place can be made online at www.eadmissions.org.uk from September. Please note the deadline when applying for your place.
Transfer to secondary school
This occurs at the end of Year 6 in the Junior School when your child has reached eleven years of age. A full information booklet is sent to parents of Year 6 pupils during the autumn term, together with a guidance of how to apply online - please see link below.
Most secondary schools arrange induction sessions during the summer term for pupils about to visit. Also, most heads of Year 7 visit the school to meet their prospective pupils and receive information from our staff. The school works closely with local secondary schools in order to ensure that pupils feel confident and optimistic about this important change in their lives.
In-year applications and admissions
Applications should be made using the document below and submitted to the Enfield Local Authority and not directly to the school. Details for the return of documents are on the form.
School admission appeals
If you wish to appeal a refusal of admission to the school, please contact admissions at Enfield Local Authority. Please see attached guidance below detailing the appeals process.
Please see our Admissions Policy for any further information.
