Computing

Pupils are taught to be responsible, safe and confident digital citizens. Pupils will understand and apply computing knowledge and skills across the curriculum in their everyday lives, their future workplace and within the wider society. They will be able to use and express themselves and their ideas through information and communication technology.  Pupils will be taught to program using Scratch and, as they progress throughout the school, Hopscotch. Digital portfolios, such as SeeSaw, will be used to showcase pupils’ work.

All pupils have access to a Chromebook device that supports our approach to blended learning in an ever-changing digital landscape. Pupils use Google Workspace apps to support their learning with engaging activities that are challenging, interesting and rewarding. Chromebooks also allow pupils to take more control of their own learning in their own time as they develop into independent learners with a love of learning.

In addition to Google Workspace, pupils use a range of apps for creating media in various formats. Computing is accessed across all areas of the curriculum and is an integral feature of every pupil's learning journey at Carterhatch Junior School.
