School Closures in an Emergency

Carterhatch Junior School will stay open except in the most extreme situations. The Headteacher will assess the severity of the emergency or weather conditions and determine whether it is safe for staff and students to travel to and be on school grounds. A decision will be made as early as possible and communicated.  

In the event of a decision being taken to close the school within short notice, the school will contact staff and parents by phone via text message. The school website will also be updated to alert everybody to the school closure.
